History lesson

One thing I've come to like and appreciate in my 5 months here at Chevron is the diversity of people that can work on even 1/2 of a floor. As we all know I'm not the biggest people person but so many people come from different places and have different backgrounds that I hear all kinds of fascinating stories about different countries.... and I do LOVE to travel!

While at a retirement lunch for Gracita on Tuesday, Krish (Finance guy), was telling us about the "Underwater Bridge" between India and Sri Lanka.

Wikipedia has two versions of the Mythology or Etymology:
1) Adam's Bridge: Islamic legend which Adam used the bridge to reach Adam's Peak in Sri Lanka, where he stood repentant on one foot for 1,000 years, leaving a large hollow mark resembling a foot print.

2) (Krish's story as well) Rama's Bridge: Believed to be the bridge built by the Vanara (monkey tribe) army of Rama , which he used to rescue his wife Sita from the Rakshasa king, Ravana.
Of course I like #2 better - a love story... ahhhhhh. <3
Now I don't know anything about monkeys building a bridge, but I do know these pics are amazing.

How little we have seen of this vast land...
